Master Chief Spotted on the Streets of Philadelphia!

Eric Smith of Quirk Books and Geekadelphia fame was traipsing around Rittenhouse in yesterday’s sunshine dressed as Halo’s Master Chief. He made good on a pledge to shake things up a bit in Center City with the costume from one of his favorite video games, as Technically Philly first told you in the fall.
He has two upcoming plans for the suit, in addition to any other impulse needs to wear a video game-inspired suit of armor. First, Smith hopes to visit kids at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania and in November, following the Halo remake. Second, he plans to get a video of him going to FYE to buy the game wearing the armor.

“Master Chief” Found on Cheap Toy Guns in Japan
“Xbox might not be popular in Japan, but that’s not going to stop some unscrupulous toy maker from slapping a totally unofficial Halo’s Master Chief on toy packaging.
The fact that the Xbox 360 and Halo are not widely known in Japan could be the reason why this company thought this would be totally cool. Master what? Huh?
Even though the Xbox 360 has never really lit Japan ablaze, the Halo games have sold reasonably well. For Xbox 360 games. In Japan.”

What Would You Tweak in Halo 3?

“While Halo 3 is now rapidly approaching its fourth birthday it is still seeing plenty of play. At the time of writing, the live stats over on Bungie.net are saying that just in the past 24 hours 156,155 players have played 279,341 games online.
The four years since Halo 3′s release have of course seen two other FPS expansions of the Halo universe in Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. Now though we are very much looking forward to the next chapter of Master Chief’s story being told in Halo 4 which should be with us in about a year’s time.
Personally, much like I discovered when I tried to think of ways to tweak Forza 3, there’s little if anything I’d change in Halo 3. I don’t go in for the competitive multiplayer so I’m just keen that they keep the 4-player co-op campaign and that they add Reach’s Firefight mode.
After my pathetic attempt at tweaking Halo 3, I’m sure you can do better…”
It is good to see people in the online media still thinking about Halo 3 (which happens to be my favorite of the franchise). Is there anything you’d change? CLICK HERE to chime in on this topic in our forums!

Halo Toy Theater – Episode 1: The Friggin’ Arbiter
Welcome to the first episode of the Halo Toy Theater. I used to subscribe to ToyFare magazine, and I always enjoyed their “Twisted Toy Theater.” For a long time I thought it would be fun to do something in that style, but that focused solely on Halo toys. That is where this project got it’s start. As you all well know, I love Halo and Halo toys. For a long time I’ve wanted to get it going, but when I finally got a hold of the Arbiter figure from the Mega Bloks Phantom set, I was inspired to do this first episode.
Any feedback would be appreciated. One thing to state up front is that while I’m aware that the skits may be funnier if I inserted explicit language, that isn’t going to happen. My older (6 year old) son loves Halo, and reads this stuff, and I’d like to keep it at a level that fans of any age can enjoy. Future episodes will also get longer and more in depth, but this was just a start to try it out. I have the script in the works for the next two episodes already. Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

Halo 4, 5, and 6 – “The Reclaimer Trilogy”
“While the ten year birthday of Halo: Combat Evolved and the upcoming Halo CE Anniversary release are clearly the focus of the first Halo Fest at this year’s Penny Arcade Expo, the continuing adventures of the Master Chief aren’t far from anyone’s mind. At 343i’s Halo 4 panel on Saturday morning, Josh Holmes discussed the impending Halo trilogy and revealed the name of the upcoming three-game series: the Reclaimer Trilogy.
Astute Halo fans will recall that Guilty Spark, the AI presence from the original Halo installation in Combat Evolved (and namesake of 343i), often referred to the Master Chief as the Reclaimer throughout their interactions. Guilty Spark also plays a prominent role in Halo CE Anniversary’s new addition to the original game, the Terminals.”
