Tony Goodman, founder of Ensemble Studios, has taken a walk down memory lane while discussing the development of Halo Wars in an interview with Games Industry International. He talks about the challenges they encountered, how it started as a different game entirely, and how Bungie felt that the game was “whoring out” the franchise. Personally, I thought Halo Wars was a good change of pace for the franchise, and did a great job adding to the fiction of the Halo Universe. I’m hoping that in the future Microsoft and 343 Industries will take some risks on new kinds of Halo games outside the shooter realm.
