wiiwhitey gave us the heads up on some new images of McFarlane wave 6 that are up over at Halo Waypoint. Six individual figures and two deluxe sets are coming our way. The deluxe sets will include some accessories from objective gametypes, such as skulls, flags, and a core. Though the official release date is February 2012, these waves tend to start showing up earlier many times, so we won’t have to wait long to have them in hand!

GameZone discusses the OXM reveal of the upcoming Halo 4 XBox 360 Console, and how it may indicate that the successor to the 360 may not be as near as some people think:
“If the crystal ball is correct, this could debunk any rumors we’ve previously heard about the Xbox 720 – as far as release date is concerned. This doesn’t exactly mean Microsoft still won’t make some form of announcement at CES 2012 or E3 2012, but as far as an actual release date for a new console, it doesn’t look like we’ll see a new one any time soon – or at least in 2012. My guess is maybe the 2013 holiday season at the earliest, possibly pushing into 2014.
Given the popularity of the Halo franchise on Xbox, it’s easy to see why they would release a custom-themed limited edition Xbox 360 around the game. Unfortunately, this also means they won’t release a competing next-gen Xbox around that time. It would make no sense for Microsoft to release a special edition 360 anytime near the launch of the next Xbox.”

TG Daily has a small write-up on the history of the Halo major motion picture, and some ideas about why it has never come to fruition:
“So why didn’t it come together? Well, for starters, it would have been way too expensive, even with today’s FX technology. In fact, Universal turned it down to make Land of the Lost instead, which was a major flop, but it must have made more sense on paper to spend $100 million on that instead.
“Halo sold a lot of video games, that’s a good starting point,” Fritz continues, “but is it a property that will turn into a good story? Does it have compelling characters that will appeal to people outside the gamer audience? You have to remember, every video game bought generates $50-60 dollars, and a movie ticket is $10, so you need to generate the same amount of money, you need to bring in five times as many people. So the amount of people who buy a game are just not enough to support a successful film, certainly not a big budget effects film.””
